She threw it away when she started getting serious with the man who would one day be her husband. When I go on a first date, I tell myself the same thing: “People are worth knowing.” Some of the greatest men I’ve dated didn’t match the attributes on my original list.

This is the message conveyed in the majority of romance novels and romantic comedies.

According to the media, love is dramatic and all consuming.

Judging by the way he treats women (including the ladies in our friend group) and children, the chances are he'd be a brilliant husband and father.

Women have generally noticed these good qualities about him; he never need be short of female company. He will be 33, and says he would love to be with someone, but he says he finds "masculine women" a turn off.
